Albert Pretorius studied drama at the University of Cape Town and won the 2008 Moira Lister award for most promising new actor in 2008. He became a member of the pink couch, a Cape Townbased theatre collective that produced the acclaimed English/Afrikaans productions. Commercially he is best known for his role as student and barman Ulrich Moolman in the M-Net soapie “Binneland Sub Judice”, from 2010-2011. Other television work include leading roles in the series “Buurtwag”, Die Boland Moorde, Vloeksteen.
In 2015 he won the coveted Best Actor Fiesta Award for his role in Athol Fugard’s Playland. He also had a leading role in “Die Seemeeu”, directed by Christiaan Olwagen for which he won the Fiesta award as best actor in 2015. He appeared in films like “Modder en Bloed”, “Die Rebellie van Lafras Verwey”, “Konfetti”, “Long Walk to Freedom” and “Die Wonderwerker”.
