Ilana Cilliers obtained a BA Drama (Hons.) from the University of Stellenbosch in 2007 after which she worked extensively in the theatre. She appeared in the ground breaking and award winning play “Samsa-Masjien” oppiste Ludwig Binge. Some of her other theatre credits are “Gevalle Engel, “Brabantia”, “Door”, “Breed”, “Drifting”, “The Little Nobody”, “Periandros van Korinthe”, “Die storm”, “The Swimming Lesson”, and “Bloed”. In 2010 the play “Breed” was the winner of Standard Bank Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown and in 2011 the production “Door” was the winner of the same award. Both starring Ilana.
In 2014 it was the turn of her production “Machine for Living” to win the Standard Bank Silver Ovation Award. Also in 2014 the production “Samsa-Masjien” was the winner of 4 Kanna awards at Little Karoo National Arts Festival. Her television credits include Clan of the Cavebear. Her other film credit is “Iemand Anders” a short film also starring Albert Pretorius.
